Exhaust & Mufflers
Using the best possible exhaust and mufflers in your BMW and Mini will help you achieve the best possible fuel efficiency. And of course, they cut polluting emissions making your car more eco-friendly.
Understanding Your Muffler and Exhaust System
We compiled some common issues that can happen to your car’s exhaust system.
Not so good vibrations..
If you hear any kind of unusual vibration when your BMW or Mini is driving on the road, or if it experiences a sudden loss of power, bring call us for an inspection. Those vibrations are not just signals of an issue with the muffler or exhaust… they are also signals that your motor is working not at its peak efficiency.
A failing or failed catalytic converter
The catalytic converter is the most valuable and at the same time fragile part of the whole exhaust system. If the catalytic converter begins to malfunction, you will hear loud noises under the car’s hood. A failing catalytic converter sounds like someone shaking a metal box filled with coins while your car is not driving yet, but has ignition on already. Also, pay attention to whether the “check your engine” light is lit or not.
Increase in exhaust volume
A loud and low noise coming out of your exhaust pipe behind the car is an obvious signal that you have a muffler or exhaust problem of some sort. In such a situation the quick visit to a car repair shop is the best resort. Postponing an obviously required muffler or exhaust repairs causes can make other exhaust and engine problems even worse. As a result of the price for a repair only hikes.
Decrease in fuel efficiency
If you spot that your car drives fewer miles on the same amount of fuel, as usual, take your car to a local service center for an inspection. As with vibrations, loss of fuel efficiency might be a sign of a car exhaust system issue. Exhaust leaks make your motor work harder. In turn, that requires more gas.
